I let it run a few seconds and hit F11 to stop it. I then went and clicked on the F11 record button, and another movie started. I then viewed all 5 movies, and all were blank/black. I maxed fraps and clicked on the F12 key, and sure enough, another recording started.

So far, I had not touched the F11 key to start and stop the recording.īut I went to the "movies" folder, and there was a movie for every time I had pressed the frames counter key. I pressed it 5 times and watched the little dot change between disabled and all four corners.

Each time I clicked on the F12 key, it cycled the position of the frames counter. I then went back and watched fraps as I clicked on the hotkeys. I then went to the movie section and set up F11 to start the recording. First off, I set up the hotkey F12 for the frame counter, to be shown in the bottom right corner. No joy! I went to the fraps Web, read the FAQ, and set up everything the way it said. Will FRAPS do? Or do I need something else? I want something that will record decent videos of my flights, and that will work at MY resolution. So I'm asking others out there for their input on this app. I was assuming that this would work in HD mode, and maybe I was wrong. I noticed somewhere in the instructions where it said to set the FSX graphics at a lower resolution (which I'm not going to do), but it didn't say anything about a resolution limit. The only problem I could think of would be that FRAPS does not work in my 1920x1080x32 mode. Problem was, when I clicked on "Play", all I got was a black screen, with the FSX sounds, and a cursor that flew all over the screen, leaving cursor arrows behind it.

But then I selected "View" and there it was, a file saved in the correct place. So I couldn't tell if I was recording or not. Then I hit the hot-key again to stop recording.įirst, though I had set the frames counter overlay to appear in the bottom right corner, it never did. I set the hot-key at the '1' key (top of keyboard, not numpad), and so with the 172 sitting there cold & dark, I hit the hot-key and went about switching everything on and starting the engine. Is there anyone out there who uses this program? I loaded it up (v3.5.9), and thought I had it set correctly (not a lot to set, is there?) until I started up FSX and loaded the default Cessna 172. I recently got FRAPS because I wanted not only to record more than a few seconds of FSX flight but also wanted to share some of it with others.
